Description
The Re 4/4 I:
In the closing months of WWII well-founded plans for a new, light and fast electric locomotive took shape within de SBB offices. Much weight was assigned to the capability of riding curves at high speeds, using the pattern provided by the heavier BLS Ae 4/4 251. The SLM works were tasked with constructing the mechanical components. At the same time, the electrical side of the project was shared between the BBC and SAAS companies.
Between 1946 and 1951 the engines were delivered in two sub-series, numbered 401-426 and 427-450. Large weight savings were achieved by an innovative cylindrical transformer type, developed by BBC. During the years 1958 to 1960 all locos were renumbered (10001-10050). Also, the original Westinghouse equipment was replaced by Oerlikon braking systems while the G/P/R selector in the cabin was simplified by removing the ‘G’ option. In the mid-sixties the wheel spokes needed to be reinforced. During their lifetime the engines were mainly used in regional passenger services, often in push-pull compositions with Leichtstahl-coaches, but they also could be seen in front of good trains.
Engine no. 10001 was classified as a historical locomotive object in 1996 and can be seen in Olten.

Indeed a very good addon! The train looks great and the sound really adds to the immersion. The only thing that could be improved is the power and electric brake wheel. it feels a bit too sensitive, allthough that might just be me. But yeah, other than that it’s great and i can recommend it to anyone! My swiss heart loves it ♥

Very very well done, love it. Well worth the money. What I like about Wilbur is the cab sway. Highly recommend.
